how do i replace a transmission sensor switch on a 2001 l-series saturn
remove it
Could be your shifter cable has stretched and you need to replace it? On my 1995 Saturn SL2 I could not keep the shifter in 3rd gear. I replaced the tranny with one from the junkyard and the problem still persisted. I talked to Saturn and they said it was my shifter cable. I installed the shifter cable and the new tranny goes into 3rd gear without any problems. Please use this as an FYI. It was time consuming and expensive to replace the shifter cable, but a lot less expensive than the tranny. Hopefully it is something simpler for you.
How much transmission to replace new?
Check saturnfans.com forums under the SL or post the question.
if it is anything like my 97' Saturn Sl2. The engine must be dropped out to dismount the transmission.
1993 Saturn sl2
1100 at the dealer. expect 800 at a local mechanic
Only if you change the wire harness, computer and transmission. All are different
Transmission filters are INSIDE the transmission. You need to remove the transmission oil pan. When you replace the filter, plan on replacing the pan gasket as well.
Drain the fluid just like you would the oil. replace the filter the exact same way also
Hi, Just thought Id let you know I have a similar problem with my shifter. I ordered the part from my local Saturn dealer, they quoted me a price of $40something for the part and another $0something for labor. I ordered the part lets just hope its the right one.
