There are two ways to clear the codes and reset the Check Engine light. The safest way is to use an OBDII scanner tool. Another way is to disconnect the negative battery cable for a couple of minutes and then reconnecting it. The drawback with the cable disconnection method is that the computer may lose it's entire memory and the vehicle will run rough for a while until the computer re-learns itself.
disconnect the positive battery cable then reconnect.
Did you try disconnecting the positive battery terminal for a minute then reconnecting it? Soemtimes this will reset the computer and the light will go out.
ODO
