The check engine light came on because the ECM (Engine Control Module) detected a problem. Until the problem is fixed the light will continue to illuminate. Just resetting the light will not fix the problem. Have your local auto parts store read the code(s) from the ECM. The code(s) will help determine what the next step should be.
