Hello,
You don't need the previous code but you do need the MASTER CODE. It should be marked down in the owner's manual. If it's not there is should be taped to the Smart Entry Controller, which is in the center console.
You will need to remove one piece of trim panel to the right side of the gas pedal. Just remove the single push nut with a pair of needle nose pliers. Pull the trim back enough so that you can see the controller. It's just a small electronics box. The master code should be taped to it.
Do you need actual directions on how to change the code?
Nissan Dealer only at this point.

No.
The keyless entry remote for Nissan vehicles can be purchased at a Nissan dealership. They typically cost around $100 USD.
If the dome light and the keyless entry system does not work on a Nissan Sentra it is possible there is blown fuse. The fuse box is found in the passenger compartment.

This is a hard question to answer without knowing the year and Nissan model you are looking for. If you are just looking for an average of the new Nissan car models though, many of the 2010s are rated for approximately 25mpg in the city and about 30mpg on the highway.
The code is in your trunk on the pillar by the back window where the speakers are mounted there is a sticker there that has the Security code for the keyless entry. Good luck
