How do you reset the oil life light on Mercury Mariner? Dealer didn;t reset at oil change & we are out of state now. Thanks
The 1997 Mercury Sable does not have a timing belt, it has a timing chain that normally requires no replacement and should last the life of the engine.
It has a chain that requires no maintenance and should last the life of the engine.
Mine won't answer either!! help!
first you have to this when your car is not on. turn the ignition switch for power and the bottom button that has an arrow on it press this until you see reset oil life and press
You have to reset the oil life in the computer to get it to go out.
You can get Sable to talk about her life by talking to her everyday and eventually, she will trust you enough to tell you her stories... -Maddy
Turn the ignition to run (one position before starting engine). Press and release SETUP to display "OIL LIFE xxx% HOLD RESET = NEW". Press and hold RESET for 2 seconds and then release to reset oil life to 100%. Turn ignition off and then start engine to verify the indicator has been reset.
According to the Owners Manual, the answer is "yes". Yes in that many years of Sable specified either green or "gold", which is the industry equivalent of yellow. It's my understanding the yellow was the upgraded / long-life coolant. See "Related Questions" below for more
