You will need an OBD2 scan tool to reset the computer. Of course if you don't fix the problem that set a fault code, then the Check Engine Light will just come back on. The OBDII(TECH 2) is only needed when some major engine work has been done. You can reset the trouble codes by disconnecting the negative battery cable for about 2.5-3 hours and letting the car sit. However the trouble codes will probably return unless you correct the problem. Also tighten your gas cap(yes, it sets an emision code) before removing the battery cable. Keep in mind that your car is equiped with a learning computer and may need a couple of days of driving to adjust the engine parameters correctly.
