The 'Maintenance' light is a handy reminder that the vehicle is due for an oil change. The light will flash when the engine is started, 4500 miles after the reset and comes on solid at 5000 miles. After you've done the oil change here's the reset procedure.
1. Turn the ignition key on and press the trip button on the odometer until the display shows total vehicle miles (not trip miles).
2. Turn the ignition key off.
3. Press and hold the odometer display button then turn the ignition key on (don't start the engine).
4. In a couple of seconds you'll notice the mileage numbers are disappearing becoming dashes. When the display shows all dashes (--------) the maintenance light will flash and then go off. You can release the button and turn off the key.
The system is now reset. When you turn the ignition key on again you'll see total vehicle miles and the maintenance light will be off. The maintenance system will be counting the miles in the background and will issue the blinking reminder again in 4500 miles.
