Turn the ignition on. Hold the 'tune >' button and press the button with the number '1'. Three dashes will appear instead of SEC. Use the '1'/'2'/'3' buttons to set the stereo code. Just make sure you know what it is... otherwise after three attempts it locks permanently and then God knows how you actually unlock it.
What worked for me was to unplug the antenna in the back of the radio and then enter the security code. Once the security code is entered, you can plug the antenna connector back into the radio.
if you don't have a proper scan tool to reset it, then the only other way is to disconnect the battery for 5 minutes. warning : the radio and clock, etc will reset also & the radio security lock could activate (radio would then not work until reset)
