well in order to reset the vehicle maintenance light on shabby car like the 2008 Ford escape, you must do several things. First check your oil status and change it accordingly second, restart your computer third ignite the fuel engine in your car to get rid of all the bacteria that was in there (yuck!) now go to a/s and ask them to do it. the a/s will most likely cost about 1-5 usdollars because this whole answer is fake. hope this helps!
