If you have forgotten your iPod Touch password please follow the following steps.
1. Plug your iPod Touch into your computer via USB and open iTunes if it does not automatically open.
2. Hold the sleep/power button and the home buttonon your iPod Touch for 30-40 seconds until the device reboots and your iPod Touch prompts you to connect to iTunes.
3. iTunes will detect that your iPod Touch is in recovery mode and will guide you through the restore process.
Note: This may wipe all data from your iPod. There are more technical ways to resetting your password but this is the safest and easiest way.
If you get a "-18 error" simply disconnect your iPod Touch from your computer and restart iTunes. When iTunes has loaded back up reconnect your iPod Touch via USB and iTunes will detect your device is in recovery mode as before. This time you should not get a "-18 error".
