I had a problem of insects of all sorts hovering on my cement front porch at night mostly in summer until I covered it with a large outdoor carpet I bought from Home Depot. It appears the cement porch absorbed the heat from the sun during the day and retained throughout the evening. The carpet does not retain the heat and and the evening the porch cools down and insects leave.

Controlling access by closing cracks and crevices and by keeping clean is the way to rid the front door of flies. The insects in question (Diptera order) proliferate at front doors that offer entries and exits, food sources, mating opportunities, and shelter. They will be discouraged if all such unnecessary openings as breaks, cracks, crevices, and fissures are repaired, if crumbs and spills are swept up immediately, if food is not left out or uncovered, if garbage is covered and removed, and if water leaks receive immediate prioritization.

Fly traps or spraying a few times a day. Also repellent might work.
