'Twist and Go'. Get on a vehicle handling course. Before you go anywhere find out where the brakes are. Always use the front brake to slow the scooter down and the back brake to stop it. Use both (front slightly before back) to stop in an emerency. NEVER brake on a corner or a bend. Read the road, brake before the bend and power out of it. Start the engine. With your foot on the back brake, Gently open the throttle until you feel the gear engage. Look to the side and behind. If the way is clear, indicate your intent to move off, release the brake and progressively twist the throttle open. The gearbox will change up and down on its own to maintain the revs of the engine. Maintain legal speed snd make good use of the mirrors. Experience will show you that there are more hazards to the rear of you than there are in front. Whenever you are to make a change of speed or direction, always look to your side to ensure some numpty is not about to cut you up. The time you are most likely to become an organ donor is when you are turning left or right into or out of a junction. Always take a long look behind in the direction of turn before you turn across traffic. Keep the rubber down and the shiny side up, enjoy the ride.
