An alternative emulator to vba.
If you are using an emulator like VBA to play Pokemon Fire Red then you do not save as you normally do. You save using the emulator controls.
A SGM file is created when you Save a State using the VBA emulator to open this file you need to load the Firered game onto the VBA like normal then go under File then Load State a window will appear to the right showing all the States you have created select the correct State you want to load by clicking on it then the emulator will load up that State.
To save u need to download VBA 1.7.3 and it fixes the problems.
Sgm if I remeber right are save state files meaning with your VBA you should click Load State to load back up that Sgm file you made. Do not load it if your state is saved before your actual save of the game. Basically if you save the game the normal method of pressing Start and hitting Save and you have a save state that is placed before that save do not load it.
128k, go to emulator>savetype>128k
Maybe either the VBA or the Computer is old... or maybe you need some experience... either or...
probably saved with a beta version
It does but you dont save it like on your GBA :P
im pretty sure you cant. try boycott advance or NO$GBA
If you're using a VBA, go to the options menu, go to joypad, configure, click whichever number you want, and put in your own controls. Just make sure to remember them thereafter. Do this without a ROM in the emulator; otherwise it pulls a Charlie Sheen, goes crazy, and glitches out. Controls within the game itself are explained in a tutorial at the beginning. If you're using a save state and can't see it . . . well, just save state the game, then start a new game to watch the tutorial before reverting with the save state. Or just experiment and see what works.
I am not positive if this will work, but it sounds like a similar problem with Pokemon Fire Red. On your VBA, go to "Options" scroll down to "Emulator" over to "Save Type". Now change it to "Automatic" and "FLASH 128K".
