How do you take a screenshot?

In mobile phones it is inbuilt to screen shot your screen. In desktop, you have to use snipping tool to snip the desktop.

Windows:

Hit the Print Screen button on your keyboard and paste into your favorite photo editing application (like MS Paint).

You can press Alt + Print Screen to make a screenshot only of the active window (useful when you are documenting a step by step process).

Mac:

Command + Shift + 3 (⌘⇧3) for Full Screen

The screenshot will by default appear on the desktop. You can change the save location and format by using OnyX.

iOS:

Press the Home button and Sleep/Wake button at the same time and a white flash will appear on screen. The picture will be saved in you camera roll. A:Windows:

Without minimizing what you want to capture, press the key "Print Screen" on your keyboard (typically it's near the Pause and Scroll Lock keys). Then go to any graphic editor - such as MS Paint - and paste the image (Ctrl + V) into the editor. You have now the image of the whole screen. Use File / Save to save it to a file - save it as a .jpg.

To restrict to the active window only, press Alt + Print Screen.

Apple Macintosh:

Hold down the Shift and Command keys, then press number 3. (The Command key has the Apple picture on it.)

To capture only part of the screen, hold down Shift & Command, then press number 4. The cursor will change to a cross. If you drag from top-left to bottom-right of what you want to capture, you will hear a camera-click when you release the mouse button.

The captured .png shot will appear on the desktop as Picture 1, Picture 2, etc. This will open in Preview or any other graphics program.

There are also other freeware or shareware tools specialized for this task.

There are many options. The easiest, if you don't have any special screen capture software is to press the PrtScr button to copy, then go to where you want the screen shot and press Ctrl-V to paste.

If you have Windows Vista or higher, you can use the Snipping Tool, located in the Accessories directory of the Programs section.
