You could try learning celsius like the rest of the world. ;-)
Turn off with the temp button, BUT HOLD FOR 5 SECONDS, it should change
ok - I give up. What is the problem? In my case, the Fahrenheit reading on my 1997 Toyota Avalon rear view mirror disappeared/ is blank, but the Celsius reading shows, when the button is pressed.
Remove the 'button' from the mirror stalk and glue it to the window with 'Loctite Auto Mirror Adhesive'. It will stick almost instantly and you can attach the mirror to it in about 5 minutes.
If you need to remove side view mirror: you need to remove door panel and there should be 3 nuts securing mirror to door.
I just had this same thing happen to me, i was quite depressed as i never knew how much i looked at it until it was gone. Out of desperation i held the Temp button in and counted to 15. i looked at the mirror and the Celsius light was blinking so i let go and hit the button again and the Fahrenheit light was blinking. After a second the temp was showing in Fahrenheit again. I hope this works for you. If only the glass is broken take the car to your local glass repair shop.
TAKE THE DOOR PANEL OFF AND THEN TAKE OUT THE INNER WINDOW STRUCTURE AND THEN THERE ARE TWO BOLTS HOLDING ON THE MIRROR TAKE THEN OFF GOOD LUCK YOU ARE BETTER OFF HAVING SOMEONE DO IT FOR YOU
I just finished replacing a mirror on a 1999 lesabre and they are probably the same. The button is held in place by a spring steel clip that is visable at the square end of the button. It looks like the button and clip are made together but they aren't you place a small pocket screw driver in the center slot of the clip and pry up and out at the same time on the bottom of the button and the button will come out. ...
the mirror turns a greenish yellow because of the chemical used to make it auto dimming. The mirror glass needs to be replaced. A GM part item.
