There is a different procedure for every car so you need to get a repair manual.
Generally you would line up the rotor with a mark on the inside of the distributor and then line both those marks up with one on the intake manifold where the distributor is inserted, all this is done with the engine at TDC.
nope. Block heater is just to heat the block and intake
No, just under and above the intake gaskets.
Yes, I just changed a 1985 305CI intake to a new GM 350CI long block crate motor.
You need to CLEAN the intake up real good where the gaskets fit against it. Then make SURE that the intake is NOT PITTED, If intake is real smooth then there is no reason to replace it. Just replace the gaskets.
its on the block just below the intake manifold. Everyone knows that! Good luck changing it out, really hard to get to! its on the block just below the intake manifold. Everyone knows that! Good luck changing it out, really hard to get to!
Nothing at all. A long block is the complete engine. A short block is just the engine with no intake, exhaust, or accessories installed.
If the intake is on it, Look at the back of it where the distributor goes in it and just behind the intake were it seals against the back of the block you will see a small hole in the top side of the engine block. That is the oil pressure port.
Take away its cigarettes
Near where the oil filter mates with the block and there is a port on the top of the block just behind the intake near the distributor.
There are two knock sensors located in the block. They are just under the intake manifold.
just under the air intake on the engine block (you'll probably need to remove the rubber air intake hose to see it)
I just replaced mine today. I have a 99 maxima 3.0 The gasket was $23 at Pep Boys.
