Try it at 12 degrees BTDC. If there is no noticeable pinging, advance two degrees at a time until you notice pinging and then back off 2 degrees. With good fuel, you could get up to 16 degrees or so without problems.

cam timing will not change ignition timing i would try 8 or 10 degees advance at idle with the vacuum advance disconnected.
