I have a 1998 Suzuki Sidekick JX 4X4 4 Doors, How do I set the timing? Please show me the steps thank you.
You can set the camshaft timing, on your Suzuki 450, by manually turning the engine to the number one spot. Adjust the camshaft valves with the adjustment screw.
timig chain marks
no it wont it is way to small weve tried it and its usless but the tires are good
With the timing set at 10 degrees BTDC it is 800 RPM.
If you are talking about ignition timing then the answer is easy. You don't. Suzuki's PEI (Pointless Electronic Ignition) takes care of timing the spark. If you are talking about valve timing-resubmit and I will take a stab at explaining it. There is no way to remap the electronic ignition system to change the spark timing.
to be honest watch a video on YouTube
this is the correct procedure http://www.kick-fix.com/IGN_timing/8v-procedure.html
i suggest you look under the hood,an see ifit has a data sticker,that say's there's no timimg reguired.the 2002 i know has a timing sensor,which change's the timing atomatically.
Generally speaking the timing would be set at 10* BTDC. Individual settings will vary, however, based on many factors - including altitude. Download the FREE Suzuki Samurai Shop Manual from http://www.suzukiinfo.com/ or visit zukikrawlers.com zn
make sure th piston is set a tdc. both valves should be closed. the cam has a mark on the gear side which should be lined up flat with surface of head. both cam lobes should be up letting valves be closed. if everything is lined up correctly the ATV is in time.
what timing are you trying to set? the cam timing or the ignition timing?
