How do you set timing marks on 2002 kia rio?

you have to set the number #1 cylinder at DTC, the 2 cams line up with the lines on cam to lines on motor top,the crankshaft has to line up with its marks at 12 o'clock and oil pump marks line up about 11 o clock. The biggest trick is keeping the 2 cams from unloading and being a tooth off. The following is how to stop that : go to a hardware store purchase the following: 1/8 thick, 1.5 inch wide x 7.75 inch (you will probably have to bye a 24 inch ) piece of aluminum, 2ea . 17mm sockets,2 carriage bolts 1.5 inches long with nuts.( make sure the heads will seat inside the 17 mm. open end and will bottom out inside.) Now cut the aluminium to apporx 7 3/4 inch long. Then carefully and precisionly drill two holes for carrige bolts to go thru at each end 6 1/4 inches apart from each other. Slide the carriage bolts thu the 17 mm and thru the metal aluminium bracket and put the nuts on and just tighten just enough t5o do minor adjustments. Now slide the 2 17mm. sockts on the cam bolt heads ,turning the sockets unitl they are fully seated on the cam bolts. Now snug down thw the nuts on the carriage bolts to lock them in place.You now have a locking cam jig to keep the cams from moving. I guess i should of stated do this BEFORE starting to remove or loosen the timing belt. This jig works very well and the neat thing is you dont have to keep tweeking the cams while trying to align the belt.Once its set from the original belt it will be the same on the new belt.This procedure is for 2.0l dual cam engine. You probably cam adapt it to the SOHV.
