on petrol ecotec engines two liter vectra b , its marks on top of valve cover above camgears, aligned with marks on the timegears, also other mark on the gears align where the gears come close to each other, and a mark on the crankshaft pulley for the serpentine and timing belt behind thepulley, aligns with a needle mark a bit to the side to the right. do not turn the camgears while timebelt is off with any force, I did that and seem to have bent a valve maybe. to prewent that you can use a locking tool on the camgears, I was too cheap to buy that , the haynes book is not expensive and has detailed instructions. also I would advice to take spark plugs out first, then you dont get into a habit of turnig the engine with a wrench with force , also you can see the position of the pistons through plug holes with a flashlight, while cambelt is on, put pisons in a low postiion before removing timebelt, then valves will hardly hit pistons even if you turn camgears by mistake. if you dont move the crankshaft. but I know little about this, maybe my directons are faulty, safest is to do it by the book.
YES IT CAN BEND A VALVE WHEN THE TIMING CHAIN BROKE VALVE TRAIN NOT MOVING AND THE CRANK IS STILL MOVING CAUSING PISTON TO COME IN CONTACK WITH THE VALVE THAT WAS OPEN
maby they like that letter and i was asking myself about that conspiracy for a while now Before 1991 (ish) Vauxhall and Opel models were the same but had different names (Astra = Kadett, Cavalier = Ascona/Vectra and Nova = Corsa) Vauxhall and Opel decided to set a standard for naming their cars and I think they just took a marketing choice to make them all ending with 'A'
Turn the rear gear valve to the 'on' position, then adjust the flux capacitor regulation system freely.
Ensure the timing is set on the correct revolution, 1st cylinder piston should be top dead center, with the inlet valve closed and outlet valve towards opening. Timing mark on pulley should be at center or at 0 (zero). If engine has a mechanical distributor, the rotor should be pointing towards the number 1 spark lead, in the correct firing order. Ensure valve clearances are correct while cold. Then readjusted when warm.
Yes, A 1991 civic uses a timing belt, not a timing chain.
The 1991 Lexus ls400 has a timing belt.
Your 1991 Mercury Topaz 2.3 liter has a timing CHAIN
set timing on 1991 c2500 5.7 liter
The 4.3 litre V6 engine in a 1991 Chevrolet S-10 has a timing CHAIN
Kate Hoey (born June 21, 1946) succeeded Stuart Holland as the third, and current, Member of Parliament for Vauxhall, serving since 1989, including the whole of 1991.
The 1991 Geo Metro EGR valve can be located on the air cleaner housing. The valve will be on the back of the housing.
No Belt=It has a Timing Chain.=
