To my knowledge USBs cannot carry network connections like that. You need an Ethernet cord, which is what routers are fitted for.
Share Internet access by using a wireless network (WLAN) on your home computer. Attach the wireless router to the modem using the instructions provided by your specific Linksys router model. Once you have properly setup your computer to a wireless network, you can begin sharing games, files, printers, and much more.
Gigabit port on a wireless router is the latest network technology that supports data transmission rates up to 1000Mbps over a network cable compared to a fast Ethernet connection which peaks at 100Mbps. networkrepairs.ca
1. you must connect the wireless router with a wired router. 2. you can monitor the network through mirroring port. 3. softwares that you can use to monitor your network: websense, WFilter
There are at least two ways. First, you connect the wireless router directly to the cable modem, and then the switch in the wireless router. You have to connect the cable coming from the modem in the wireless router internet port. Second, you connect the wireless router to the switch, again the cable coming from the switch you have to connect on the wireless router internet port. It's better to put the wireless router just after the modem, but it's not required.
One of lesser known features that can be included in a wireless router is a USB port. This port can be used for basic transmission, but more often it is intended to allow a user to attach a storage device to the router. This means that a wireless router with USB ports is able to act as a central data hub, providing access to the USB storage device that is attached to it across the entire network.
A wireless router will usually be connected directly to a high speed modem between the modem and any other device. This allows the router to correctly pass internet requests from the local network (computers connected wirelessly or to a standard port) to the ISP (the high speed modem connected to the Internet port). Connecting a wireless router to a computer would be unusual but it could function if connected to the network port on the computer provided the router-computer connection was properly configured. In this case the computer would have to be configured to route.

You need a router. The cable modem connects to the modem's uplink port and the switch can connect to any available port on the router. I use Airlink 101 router and D-link wireless network adapter DD-WRT provides firmware for many types of routers that allows you to setup a wifi router as a bridge or a repeater. You need to have a special converter or modem which is made for fiber optic networks. Usually such modems have a lan port for wireless routers or network switches.
Typically yes if you wire it directly into the router and your PC has a RJ45/8 pin network card/port, not a 4 or 6 pin phone/modem port. Even wireless should be ok if you have the right wireless adapter for your PC.
A wireless router is a device in a wireless local area network (WLAN) that determines the next network point to which a packet should be forwarded toward its destination. A wireless router works in the same way as the router in a hard-wired home or business local area network (LAN), but allows greater mobility for notebook or portable computers. The individual computers are equipped with small wireless transceivers that can be plugged into either a Universal Serial Bus (USB) port or a PC Card slot.
