The simplest skirt is the peasant skirt. Just cut the fabric the length you want the skirt plus four inches. Assuming a 45" fabric, sew the two selvage edges together.

• You then need to locate the middle of the waistband and make a small cut so that you can put a drawstring through it. Feed the drawstring through the skirt and knot it at both ends. This is what you will use to tighten the skirt.

• Try the skirt on and see if it fits properly.
