How do you shut a 99 dodge neon sunroff-moonroof when the sunroof motor stops working a little before it gets to the fully closed position In other words how can you unjam the sunroof It doesn't shut?

Look for dirt in the track and/or motor. It may close if you assist the motor by pushing on the sunroof at the same time.

the sunroof motor is simple to replace, but may be time consuming. you first have to remove the headliner. take all the trim holding the headliner off to bring the liner down. once you are inside the headliner, remove the two screws holding the sunroof control assembly. Disconnect the wireing harness from the motor. 3 screws hold the motor in place. Before removing the motor, make sure the sunroof is closed and sealed shut. the motor is timed to the position of the sunroof. Do not turn the motor gear under any circumstance. once the motor is out, inspect the drive cables for any visible wear. Installation of a new motor is just the opposite of removal. the new motor should come pre-timed to the "Closed" position.

I can tell you that if you need a new sunroof GO TO THE DEALER. This can be very difficult to fix. I say dealer bcos although you will pay more it will take lesstime and you will have a warranty. I let a someone who worked on mescedes do mind and I regret it. He took to long to fix it and it makes noise that I did not hear before. Gook luck

First, make sure that the fuse is still working. Use the vehicle manual to determine the correct fuse. Begin by removing the headliner, it comes down easily if you remove the screws on the sun visors on the driver and passenger sides and any other screws holding it up. Next, pop out the sunroof switch, it should come out with a flathead screwdriver and some slight gental leverage. The sunroof motor should be visable under the headliner where the sunroof switch was. If the motor is stuck it is holding the sunroof in place. It needs to be removed. (Before removing test the wires to see if power is getting to the motor. If there is power you know this is not an electrical problem.) There should only be a few small bolts holding it in. Experiment with different ratchet sizes to see which will fit. Once the motor removed the sunroof should be easy to slide down.

Raise the roof, unclip it from the inside, slide it out. Actually, that answer is incorrect ! The latches that raise/lower the sunroof must be disengaged before it can go anywhere. They are controlled by placing the ignition switch into the #1 position and, using the roof control switch, causing the latches to fully retract into the roof body. The roof is now free to be maneuvered. It can now be removed by releasing the interior locking clips at the windshield and lifting it out from within. Note that it is quite heavy, and 2 persons are recommended.
