If you have a Nano, Classic, Shuffle or any iPod with the circle scroll thing in the middle, Hold the Play/Pause button until it turns off. If you have an iPod Touch or an iPhone, hold the Lock button until it says "Slide to turn power off", then slide the red button across the screen.

∙ 14y agoYou cannot disable the internal iPod Touch speakers. When you are playing music without the headphones, it will automatically play out loud. Just mute the iPod to temporarily turn then 'off'.
