To prevent lumps from forming in cream cheese frosting, you need to gradually sift the confectioner's sugar into the creamed butter, cream cheese, and vanilla.
If you already have lumps in your frosting, pulse it through a food processor or hand blender a few times, or use the back of a spoon to MASH them.
Put it in a blender, or force it through a flour sieve.
im having the same issue! i tried microwaving the frosting, it got rid of the lumps but made the frosting more of a liquid.. hope i could help!
