Downloading less and accessing websites which don't use a lot of memory should speed up your internet. Activities such as watching videos and playing games will slow down the speed of your internet (depending on how many videos/games you watch/play).

Google web exelerater is very good for broadband or higher, I use it. For dial up there are some exelerators but they don't work very well. Also if you haven't changed your IP address in the past year or so it might help. (My old IP address went through a town about 30 miles away from me but sense I changed it it now goes through a town maybe 5 miles away. The one other thing that should be done is this......Go to control panel, open "internet options", click "advanced tab", scroll to the bottom and select "empty temporary internet files folder.....". This is a must for a surfer. It does wonders. One last option is to purchase a "registry repair" software program. There is one out there on the net for $10.00 that works well. It is either Windows Registry Repair or Registry Repair Pro. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ For WIN XP

Start > Run "gpedit.msc" > computer configuration > Administrative templates > Network > QoS Packet scheduler > Limit reservable bandwidth > Tab "settings" > disable > ok > restart. Windows reserves 20% of the bandwidth by default. You have disabled it to free that much bandwidth !

Enjoy

There are several parts to any answer for this question.

1. You may find that one ISP (Internet Service Provider) in your area has faster links to the rest of the world (Uplinks) than others. This means they can cope with more customers before you start competing for bandwidth. Ask around/look for reviews/forums about your intended ISP.

2. Different technologies are capable of different speeds. In NZ as a home user we mostly have access only dial up or to ADSL for internet access. Dial up is limited to 56Kbps but can be "accelerated" by your ISP with software which compresses and/or caches the data before you get it to reduce the amount you actually have to download across your slow connection.

The currently rolled out ADSL standard gives up to 5Mbps depending on how close you are to a telephone exchange. In some parts of the country you can also access internet via a cable modem which is faster at around 10Mbps. In some main centers there is also Wireless internet available but it tends to be less reliable and slower.

The very lucky may be in a central city building with fiber connection which potentially gives 1000Mbps or more. Generally speaking, in NZ at least, the faster you get your data, the more you pay for it.

The newest kid on the block and the most expensive in NZ which has high rates for mobile calls and data, is data over cellular phone networks. Theoretically this can give close to the same speeds as ADSL and has the advantage that you can take it anywhere there is a cellphone coverage. In practice, like other kinds of network, you are competing with other people for a limited amount of data bandwidth and your results will vary according to how busy local cell sites are at the time.

some webistes actually have a program where you can test your computer for free. Some websites are so good with them. They will even tell you what you need to upgrade. But be careful/warned. Some have been known to have viruses.

The best way would be to change your internet connection type (DSL, ADSL, Cable). You can do this by contacting your internet service provider. Sometimes it isn't always your internet, it can be your computer. Sometimes if you have a slow computer your internet can go slow as a result.

First off you will need a battery pack with jumper leads attached, two AA batteries, an antenna and a potato with the skin on. First off ram the antenna into the potato so it sits nice and stiff. Then tape the batteries to the antennas, then get the jumper leads and attach it to the batteries, now turn the battery pack on full blast, this is how you get ADSL 20+ Thanks for reading, have nice day.
