take all the sheet metal off,
take all the nuts off the cylinder heads, take all the nuts off the case, i assume you got most of it off anyway,
dont forget the underside oil filter, the 2 nuts in the verry bottom of the case facing the cylinders,
and the oil pump (that square plate) take it off ant then pull the oilpump out.
now tap the top op the case gently with a plastic hammer, just tap on the studs sticking out of the case.
above crank pulley at the split oe motor block
It was an option on VW Bugs until 1950, and on VW Buses until 1959. The rear apron and rear engine tin had holes for the crank, the crank nut was made to accept the crank, and you got the crank itself. I guess building staff cars for an army that considered summary execution to be company-level punishment makes you overcautious.
Your fule pump diafram has a hole in it. Replace the fule pump and change the oil and you'll be fine.
yes
if you are talking about the beetle bug there is no timing belt. the cam is run off the crank gear to the cam gear.
You don't because there isn't one. Cam drive on a 1974 Bug is done through a big gear riveted to the end of the cam, that engages a gear on the crank.
