if you are talking about the beetle bug there is no timing belt. the cam is run off the crank gear to the cam gear.
standard mileage for most all timing belts is 70,000 miles, but not many Jeeps have belts, they have chains that do not need to be replaced
It depends on the year.
Timing chains never need to be changed, only belts.
A timing belt is often a toothed belt, but there are other places where toothed belts can be used as well.
There is no recommended replacement interval given for the chain replacement timing belts are critical, chains are not.
Most reccomendations are between 60,000 and 100,000 miles
CR-V engines are equipped wiht timing BELTS not chains. The factory recommended replacement interval is 105,000 miles.
Unless a timing chain is making a noise or has jumped a tooth, they need not be replaced. Timing belts need changing according to the specs spelled out in the owner's manual.
I believe that its just the timing belts that should be changed every 80,000 miles or so and not the chain. Belts exist in smaller four cylinder engines and in some six cylinder engines as well. Timing chains typically don't break any more often than other metal parts on the inside of your engine. A call to a dealer will get you more free and correct information. Good luck !!
I was looking at the 1999 Ford Escort scheduled maintenance guide and the Gates website ( they make timing belts etc . ) and both show to inspect the timing belt at 120,000 miles , replace if necessary ( that applies to both the 2.0 liter SOHC and DOHC engines )
The timing belt should be changed every 60,000 miles. Most belts will still look like new at 60,000 miles. They seem to want to break at 100,000 miles. Nothing bad will happen if it breaks other than a tow to a mechanic. This is true if you have a non-interference engine BUT if you have an interference engine and the timing belt breaks the engine can destroy itself in a moment.
The Gates website ( they make timing belts etc. ) shows 100,000 miles for normal service and 75,000 miles for severe service
