If So, All You Have To Do Is Turn Old Switch In Start Position Without trying to start it .Then Under The Steering Column Just Below the Key Switch.There Are 2 Holes One Is Smaller Use A 1/8 Punch And Insert Into Little Hole And Push Up on A Pin Then Hold It There While Pulling Old Lock Assembly Out .Be Careful When ReInstalling As the New Switch Also Has To Be In start Position To Install Most New Switches Are Already Set . So Now All You Do Is Push In On PIN Again And Push New Switch all The way In release Pin and Test Key Switch .....:) turn old key to ON position - if you turn it to START it will crank your handbook shows ON and START positions and states that START position cranks the engine. if the pats transponder (the red bit) in the key is broken its a ford job, but if you have all the bits of the key hold them all right next to the ignition key hole and try to start the car before taking to ford. a friend had a worn key and had a non pats key cut, the new key wouldn't start it alone, but if he held both black bits of the new and old key together then tried, the car would start. I'm not sure if it will start if the transponder key is dangling on the same keyring, but give it a try. its cheaper than a new key from ford.

I dont have a wiring schematic in front of me but you are looking for a wire in the old stereo connector that has 12 volts when the key is off, many people use this as their main power wire so that the stereo will work without the key but its not really made for that kind of use, the main power should be connected to the wire that has power only when the key is on.
