To access the utilities on the hidden partition, press a key during startup. The key to press is displayed on the screen early in the boot before OS is loaded. If you don't see message, search the web site of the computer manufacturer to find a key combination

How do you do a full recovery of your computer?

There are two options. If the computer has a recovery partition, then the user can press a designated key during boot to start the recovery process of th recovery partition. Option 2 if the computer has no recovery partition and or the Hard drive died the with a new hard drive installed it can be recovered from the recovery CDs/DVDs. This process is a bit more complex because sometimes the user needs to change the boot sequence to boot of the DVD-ROM device. In newer mother boards there is a designated key which the can press to select the boot device. Usually the key is F12. Computer Manual http://www.ComputeSimple.com

How can you restore your computer back to factory settings without using any kid of CD?

Okay, you may or may not be able to do this. Let me give some details. Many computer manufacturers, rather than including a windows or restore cd, will instead put a special partition on the hard disk that includes all the data needed to restore the system to factory default settings. This is not always the case, however, and so you may just be screwed. Consult your manual (if you have one) or the manufacturers website on wether or not your system has a "system restore partition" or somesuch & if so, how to activate it. The system restore process varies from maker to maker (and model to model) so it is impossible for us to know exactly what you can do & how to do it without more info. If you need more help, i suggest starting a new question along the lines of "How can i restore my [insert make and model of computer] to factory settings, and can this be done without a cd?"

When trying to restore a failed system what should you do next if Recovery console does not work?

Get your documents from the disk and reinstall the OS. Most Likely the file is toast. The ASR process probably destroyed the file, if it were not already destroyed.

How do you restore do full system recovery on gateway Alt F10 and F8 do not work and I do not have to Repair option?

I had a similar problem with a Gateway FX-6800-01e running Windows Vista, except on my machine Alt+F10 does not work, but F8 does. The following is the procedure I used. (I based this procedure on information in the Windows 7 Resource Kit, so it probably works for that operating system as well.) There has to be an intact recovery partition on the hard disk in order for this to work. No guarantees, but this is what worked for me. DO NOT DO THIS UNLESS YOU ARE WILLING TO DESTROY ALL THE DATA ON YOUR HARD DISK, OR YOU ARE SURE THE DATA IS ALREADY DESTROYED! In the following procedure, when I say to enter something, I mean type the text between the quotation marks and then press Enter. (Do not enter the quotation marks.) 1. While the system is going through the boot process, press F8 repeatedly until Advanced Boot Options comes up. 2. Choose Repair Your Computer. 3. Log in using a user name other than Administrator. 4. Select Command Prompt. 5. Type "diskpart" and press Enter. 6. Enter "list disk" to display a list of disk drives. 7. Enter "select disk <x>", where <x> is the number of the disk drive that has the recovery partition. 8. Enter "list partition" and figure out which one is the recovery partition. (Mine was 10 GB in size.) 9. Enter "select partition <x>", where <x> is the number of the recovery partition determined in the previous step. 10. Enter "detail partition" to see information about the partition. (This may help you confirm that you have selected the recovery partition.) 11. Enter "active" to make the recovery partition active. (This automatically makes the previously active partition inactive.) 12. Enter "exit" to exit from the diskpart utility. 13. Enter "exit" to exit from the command prompt. 14. Click on Restart. The recovery partition should now boot, allowing you to restore the system to its factory default configuration.
