I am not sure you can. Much of the gender discrimination is not overt and hard to prove. It is subtle and pervades the society in so many ways. If you look at how women are shown in movies, TV, and the media you can see the basis for discrimination. Women are still seen as hard tough women or scatter brains. As long as ads like the "angles" of Victoria Secret or the sex in the ads for various items play gender discrimination will still be around. These things just reinforce the stereotypes and any time a stereotype is reinforced the discrimination will exist. People have to be seen as equal and human no matter what gender or what sexual orientation they are.
They may very well be here forever as long as the ones who see nothing wrong with themselves committing such acts keep them alive.
But for each individual that does commit these acts the way to stop it is to just try to have more of an open mind and heart.
As for each individual that has the act committed against them, they should keep an open mind and heart towards others that may not ever turn their opinions around. (That is to say if the person being discriminated against had an open mind in the first place.)
You could treat people equally, and respect them, rather than treating anyone like an object or a slave. You could respect others' opinions, and do your best to be polite and kind to all.
