Parasites in horses are controlled through several different strategies: pasture management, manure management and chemical control. Pasture management techniques that help reduce parasite infection rates are not overstocking pastures, not mowing or harrowing pastures containing manure while horses are on pastures and rotating horses to different pasture every 6 months to allow the parasite load on each pasture to drop as environmental conditions kill some of the parasite eggs and larva. Manure management includes picking up feces from pastures, paddocks and stalls at least every other day. Chemical control involves identifying the parasites present through fecal egg counts and selecting an appropriate drug to administer to kill the parasites. Chemical control may be needed quite often, as in very young horses, or as infrequently as twice a year in adult horses. Horse owners should involve their veterinarians in designing and appropriate chemical parasite control strategy for each horse.

Make the horse want to do what you ask it to and make the horse understand you are the leader. To be the leader, move the horses feet forward, left, right and backwards. To make the horse want to do what you are asking it, make what you are asking it be the easiest thing to do. Like, if you want the horse to stop, lope the horse until he is begging to stop, and then, when you give the slightest signal to stop, the horse will stop on a dime.
