'Strapper' is a British term mostly used in Australia today. A Strapper is a groom who takes care of racehorses, they will feed, groom, blanket/rug the horse, and in general do all of the basic care routines that a racehorse requires.
Strapping (Also called Banging or wisping) is where you firmly smack a wisp down on the horses neck, shoulders, and hind quarters ( Avoiding the loin and bony areas.). You can make a wisp out of twisted hay or straw or buy a ready made leather strapping pad, You can also sew your own if you know how. If the horse has never been strapped before, you should start with only a few smacks on each side, about 5 will do to start. You need to hold your hand flattish and raise it up to where the horse can see it and bring it down firmly onto the large muscle groups, it should make a loud thud or banging sound. This should cause the horse to flinch and tighten up it's muscles. Then you can rub over the muscle with a cloth or sheepskin mitt to smooth out the hair and relax the horse. You should do this everyday until you are up to about 45 minutes of strapping the horse. The horse may appear sore after the first time or two, but will become used to it over time. Strapping is known to help with muscle development and helping to add a bloom to the coat.
the strap that secures the winter blanket to a horse under the belly is of course called the belly strap! and the part behind the but and in front of the tail is the tail strap and the front were it hooks together is the closer strap or the buckle strap! Hope this helps!

It depends what sort of strap you mean because if it's a strap that goes round the horses neck to help unable or nervous riders then that is a neck strap. If it is something else then I am sorry I can't help you, Hope this helps Jade
no, you can wear a body protector though!!
