If you wanted to, I figure you would have to entirely custom build your engine bay down to the engine mounts, and mounting location.
I don't see a practical point to doing that swap... you loss power, and the 2.2 is no less problematic as far as I can see on Google.
i don't see why not the 2.2 was used in 95 and 96 should fit right in
22-25 city and 32-37 highway depending if it is a manual or automatic transmission equipped.
