First, open up the Control Panel: Start -> Control Panel If you're using the default view for Control Panel, click on "Programs." Now click on "Java" (If you use the classic view option, this will show up right away and you can double click it.) When the Java Control Panel pops up, click on the Update tab, and uncheck the "Check for Updates Automatically" box. There may be a warning message that pops up; click on the Never Check button to turn off updates. Now click on the OK button and close the Control Panel window and you're all set.

How do you repair java?

repair java I have found that most errors come from conflicts with "Virus/Spyware Programs" when Java is set to auto update. I solved my problem by pausing or turning the VirusSpyware Protection off temporarily and downloading updates directly from Java. Go to your Control Panel and look for the Java icon ... click on it and you will see a tab to update along with settings for automatic updates with which you can change to manual.

My java updates come frequently and use up a lot of memory and i am wondering if there is any way to avoid this?

Do you mean your Java installation keeps updating itself? If this is the case, then you have two options:Turn off auto-updates for Java and just stick with the version you're using now.Whenever you see a new version has been installed, uninstall the old versions. (If you have a more recent version, there is little chance of you needing an outdated version, as well).

What is a Java Drive-By?

AnswerA Java Drive-By is a Java Applet that is coded in Java and is put on a website. Once you click "Run" on the pop-up, it will download a program off the internet. This program can be a virus or even a simple downloader. If you'd like to get the source code or wanna know more information about a Java Drive-By, use Google.
