On a 1996 Ford Ranger : If it has the passenger side air bag deactivation switch it is located ( in the center stack of the dash , just to the left of the ashtray ) Insert your ignition key into the switch , TURN AND HOLD the switch in the OFF position while you remove your ignition key
I also want to know :-) I replaced the 1 passanger seat with a double type apperently without an airbag on the side of it. BR Piobaire

passenger side air bag is activated by a sensor in the passanger seat, if it says "passanger air bag off" (or anything indicating its not on) there has to be a person heavy enough to turn it on, if there is someone sitting in the passanger seat and still says "passanger air bag off" there is a malfuntion in the system or sensor... ****there has been a recall with issues of 2003-2005 kia spectras with the passenger air bags, if that's the case its FREE to get it fixed at the dealer***
