COMET GOLDFISH
If you want an elegant goldfish that's as tough as it is pretty, the Comet Goldfish is for you. Sort of a halfway house between the Common goldfish and the Fantail, the Comet has a sleek, elongated body that ends in a single scissor-like tail.
Indeed, it's called the Swallowtail goldfish in the Far East, which we think really suits it.
Comets come in several different colours, with gold and metallic fish and the orange-and-red Sarasa Comet amongst the most popular. In prize-winning fish, the colour of the body extends right into the tail; even everyday specimens in the pet shop should show deep, rich colours over most of the body. All Comets start life silvery green, however, which makes buying very young fish rather hit-and-miss.
In ideal conditions Comets can reach nearly a foot in length. Although their growth will be restricted in smaller quarters, it's only right to give them as much space as you can spare.
Comet goldfish tips:
Comet goldfish seem to have been rather overshadowed in recent years by their fancier counterparts, which is a shame. Even purists who worry that man has tampered too much with some varieties of goldfish have to admit that the comet is a splendid creation.
there are three basic breeds: fantail goldfish, comet goldfish, and common goldfish. if you are getting goldfish for the first time, i would recommend common goldfish as they need the least care.
Assuming you are talking about comet goldfish, the fish should live for a few decades under proper care.

Probably, but usually the comet goldfish will get all the food and/or the other goldfish will become miserable. This has happened to me before and I do not recommend putting them in the same tanks. Try putting the fancy and comet godlfish seperate!
I have 2 myself. I've had them for about 1 year. I expect them to live maybe around 8-11 years. Or less if you don't take care of them enough.
The "Comet" is a variety of Goldfish that has a long, single tail.
a goldfish,sparkling
no. i have had two big comet goldfish with my, little 2 inch fish, and they never ate him.
No. There is nothing wrong with a homosexual goldfish. Take good care of him.
to take care of your goldfish all u have to do is just feed it change the temperature and usually when u click on the goldfish it will show its card and it will probably tell u how many weeks it can live
Comet goldfish are the average pet, although you can now get funnier types such as (my favourite) Celestial goldfish.
Almost all goldfish can get along! i would recommend a ryukin, black moor, ranchu, fan tail if your looking for a goldfish, but for other lil critters, maybe a freshwater snail, or minnows (you can find those at a local creek) or a freshwater frog, Just make sure you have a lid and a place for the frog to take a break and hop out of the water. Comet goldfish are very fast and somewhat aggressive. Fancy goldfish should not be housed with comets because fancy goldfish's unique features/bodies often prevent them from being able to compete for food. A good tank mate other than another comet would be a shubunkin or a wakin because these fish are built similarly to the comet and can compete for food. As for a community- goldfish really should only be housed with other goldfish.
