Hi
There are many websites that rescue battery hens from battery farms. Also, what i did when i first got my first chickens was go to a farm supplies shop such as Mole Valley Farmers and check the ad board. Look for adverts that are from battery farms. These ads will probably be really cheap. I got my first 6 hens for 50p each! Phone the number and organize a time to collect your hens. The hens will probably have been separated from the rest in the main shed and you can pick the nicest looking most healthy hens. These ads usually show up at the end of the month and there are loads in March and April. This is when the farmers need to get new hens to replace the old ones. They have no need for the old ones an they have gone past laying an egg every day. If you weren't to buy them, they would have been killed as they are no longer wanted. When you first bring the hens home they will look really untidy and scruffy but, with a little bit of care, will soon become you little friends.
As i said, i got hens from s battery farm and took to hen keeping instantly. It is such a fun hobby and, can make a small profit!
I hope this has been helpful.
If you have any more question don't hesitate to ask.
Thanks
BY NOT CHOPPING OFF THERE HEADS, DUHIf you have found a chicken wandering, it needs shelter and food. Chickens can pretty well take care of themselves for the most part. They need a place to roost at night, best if it is in an enclosed area where night predators cannot get to it. During the day it will wander about searching for food. Most chickens do not wander far from home unless chased. Listen in the evening just before dusk for a rooster crowing. If you hear one, that is likely where "your" chicken came from. A hen will go toward the sound of a rooster calling by instinct. That is one of the reasons a rooster crows, he calls the hens home to roost.
Dab it with damp cloth. But get it beneath a heat source quickly so that it can dry.
I would leave it to rest for a bit, feed it some seeds or something.
Apply regular wheat flour from the kitchen. This will congeal and stop the bleeding.
Stiptik pencils used for shaving cuts are handy to have in the chicken first aid kit.
