How do you take off the passenger side mirror of a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am that has been broken off it's brackets and is just hanging there by the wires?

Inside the car opposite where the mirror is there is either a tweeter speaker on the 6-speaker stereo system, or a plastic panel. Pop this off. There are three bolts that hold the whole mirror assembly on as well as a plastic connector for the wire to the power motor. Release the connector, unscrew the bolts, and what's left of your mirror should come right off. Keep one hand out the window or have someone standing outside of the vehicle to catch the mirror when everything releases so it doesn't hit the ground and shatter glass.
