Scrape a credit card against your skin, so the tick comes out. do not try to burn it out. it will just regurgitate into your skin. You are more likely to contract a disease if this happens. there are several ways but this one works for me every time

grab the little bugger and twist while pulling away from your skin like you are unscrewing it. Their mouths are barbed and will only come out if they want it to or if you work the barbs like the threads of a screw.

some people will use olive oil, a lit match ( to make it back out ) or alcohol.

Remove any ticks using tweezers, so that infection doesn't occur due to handling the tick. Grasp the tick's head with the tweezers, and pull gently but firmly so that the head and body are entirely removed.

If the tick has only just started to dig in, you may be able to lightly pull it out with tweezers. Be careful not to rip the body from the head. If it's deeper, the application of Vaseline to the area will starve the tick of oxygen and it will come out on its own.

Burn it's back side with a hot match or cigarette to get it to pull out it's head, or pour alcohol over it. Both will cause it to withdraw and you can flick it off.

What is the bump on a dog after removal of tick?

Probably the head of the tick if you didn't remove it correctly. Dump some mineral oil on the tick, [enough to completely cover it] and then gently twist tick counter clockwise while gently tugging tick out. Do not try to sqeeze it out. It will eventually be dislodged by the body's own defences against foreign objects.

How should a tick be removed if one attatches itself to you?

Take a match and light it and or heat up a piece of metal, wait a second and blow it out. Very quickly touch the back of the tick. The heat will cause the tick to back out as far as it can. The head and or teeth of the tick will still be connected. You take your finger tip and thumb and squeeze the back and underside of the tick. Slowly pull it out, it takes a little work but it will come out.
