Unless you want to replace the seat on your Outback, I can't imagine a situation where it would be better to take it out than to simply fold it down. there should be a little knob on the back of the seat next to each seatbelt, the pulley that fastens it to the wall of the car. Pull that up and it will fold the back of the seat down. As far as actually removing the seat, for whatever reason, that you will find difficult to do.
Cooling system thermostat is at the bottom of the engine. Look for the lower radiator hose and trace it back to where it attaches to the engine block. Bingo!
The 2003 Subaru Outback PCV valve is located on the air cleaner housing. The PCV valve will be on the back of the housing.
Yes, it have none
Not sure what you are seeking. Subarus use a valet key that will unlock only certain locks. You should have an owners manual for your car that will answer that and many other questions. Subaru has free manual downloads on their web site but only back to 2000. An electronic copy is available for your '99 on eBay for about 4 bucks, printed ones command a somewhat higher price. The Legacy manual covers the Legacy Outback too. --Ken
Try disconnecting battery for 10 mins. If light comes back on have vehicle scanned to determine if there is a problem or have codes "cleared"
Ok here is what is happening with my 1996 subaru legacy outback 2.5. When I apply vacuum to the back pressure transduser on the intake port side I loose vacuum quickly on the side to the egr solinoid valve. What I am wondering is the tranducer supposed to drop vacuum or does it maintain vacuum?
How do I replace the rear wiper motor or just remove the rear panel on the back window to see if my rear wiper motor is unplugged on my 2007 Subaru Outback? Thanks!
I have a 1998 Subaru Legacy Outback wagon and have the same problem. I climbed in the back and removed the back panel on the hatch door. Then I noticed the latch on the locking mechanism was getting stuck halfway. I wound up climbing into the back every time and moving out of the stuck position every time I wanted to open the hatch door. About a month ago a friend who borrowed my car noticed that if you pressed the unlock button on the front passenger side door it would unlock. I was very surprised when I found this out, but it worked. I'm not sure if that's a fluke with just my car, but it might work for you. Otherwise you could try climbing into the back like my first method. Good luck!
reduce its mileage at an electronics repair store
On the bottom of the engine toward the left, front corner. Trace the lower radiator hose from the radiator back and the thermostat is in the plastic housing where that hose meets the engine.
The rear defroster (demister) on a Subaru Legacy is built into the window. The lines going across the back window are actually the defrosters. If the vehicle is equipped with a rear wiper, the switch for this should be located below the radio and heater controls.
The 2001 Subaru all back transmission dipstick is located behind the engine, in the engine compartment. The transmission dipstick should have a yellow handle.
