Unfortunately telling your friend how you are feeling could cause a variety of actions. He may respond and be happy as he may feel the same way or he may begin to avoid you because he doesn't feel the same way and now feels uncomfortable around you. I realize you may not want to comprimise the relationship you have right now but it is going to change no matter how he reponds. If you do decide to tell him reassure him that you do not want things to get weird and would still be just as happy staying friends if he does not feel the same way. Good Luck!

Some of the best advice I ever got was 'just kiss him'. You will soon find out if he likes you back. Also alcohol always comes in handy in these situations!

Remember you only live once and whats the worst that could happen? If he rejects you then you can move on.

Or perhaps you could try to spend time with him on his own and talk about 'deep' things, hmm slightly more difficult to arrange.

just say it somewhere where u two are alone (or pretty much) like a perfect way would be asking ur friend to go on a walk or have lunch with u outside. (make sure whatever u want to do will be outside, it makes the mood more soft and tranquille) then after a while of walking and talking be silent for a while , looking around enjoying the scenery, when ur friend asks why ur so quiet, tell ur friend that there's something that's been on ur mind for a while. when ur friend asks, (don't rush) tell ur true feelings. starting with the simple "well, i like u" and then wait a few seconds for the response, if its a positive one, then get a little deeper as u continue telling ur feelings.( if its a negative response, then just say how its great being good friends and u just wanted ur friend to know that- u just wanted to get that off ur chest.) then u can ask ur friend out.
