I'm not exactly sure but they leave their shells, and if you have sand or something they will dg in there and take their shell off and hide soemwere
I was going to ask the same question.
It will stink like dead fish.
The only way to tell if a snail is dead is to sniff the snail, if it gives off a strong, odorous scent, it is most likely dead.
if it hasn't moved in a week it is probably dead
Not necessarily as lots of snails float from time to time. Pick it up and touch the foot with your finger and see if it reacts.
TOUCH IT IF IT MOVES OR BUBBLES UP ITS ALIVE
Snails that do not move for a day are definitely not well. An easy way to tell is to pick it up and smell it, and if it smells rotten, then its dead or dieing. Don't inhale too deeply, as rotting snail smell is one of the most disgusting smells you can smell.
Snails stink horridly when they die. If you have the stomach, you can pick he/she up and get a little whiff. Trust me, you'll know then if he/she is dead or not.
They get a small growth, which will soon disappear. Pregnancy is better for them if they have soil. The snail will eventually dig a hole in the soil and lay a batch of tiny white eggs, about the size of small peas. Snails lay about 100 at a time.
you can tell by it shell
If it smells worse than rotten eggs, and falls out of the shell easily it is most likely dead. If you touch it and it sucks itself back into it's shell, it is still alive!
They are differnet colours
Easy. Leave them at the garden where you find them. Leave them there For Half an hour. Experts says that if the snail leaves abig blob of red, which is also called trasdyauel, then it is a male. Transdyauel is something that only a male snail could produce. It is a llittle bit foamy and only 60% liquid made. It is red because a special chemical in the snail's body helps add a pinch of special snail dust.
