The usual symptoms are a knocking or loud clicking noise from the front of the car when cornering. The noise is not normally noticeable when driving straight. Check the CV boot (the rubber cover round the drive shaft nearest to the front wheel) this will very often be the cause of the failure if it is split.
I think you mean axle shaft joint. A crunching noise, especially when turning corners suggests bad axle shaft joints.
I think you mean axle shaft joint. The usual symptom of a bad axle shaft joint is a crunching noise when turning corners.
A bad cv joint/axle shaft on the front will make a clicking noise when turning.
I am assuming the axle cv joint itself is bad an not just the boot. If the cv joint is bad you will have to replace the whole axle itself. 1. Drain transmission fluid. 2. Remove wheel. 3. Loosen and remove axle nut and remove whatever is necessary to free axle from wheel/suspension area. 4. Using a prybar or large screwdriver pop axle out of transmission and replace.
If you replace the entire cv joint axle in MD you will have $82 in the new axle + labor in a garage $40-$60 per hr. I did it myself. not a bad job.
sound like a bad cv joint aka axle shaft check rubber boots on left and right axle if they are cracked and open chances are cv joint went bad from lack of luberication and contaminents
Sounds like a bad CV joint. On most cars, it is often more economical to replace the complete axle shaft on that side that has a bad cv joint. Hope this helps. Good-luck!
If your car is not turning correctly, you will be able to tell either your CV axle or your control arm is bad. It will cost about $600 to fix either one, with parts.
The CV joint is the part inside the boot.
Bad inner CV joint?
Could be,wheel balance, bad universal joint, bad axle CV joint,
No the axle shafts use CV joints. No the axle shafts use CV joints.
