Gay really doesn't enter into it. Just tell them that you like them or let your actions speak for you. If you are asking how you tell someone that is straight that you like them in a sexual way, it probably will not go well. You can always defuse the issue from the start by telling them that they don't need to worry about it, you happen to be gay, but you are not trying to get in their pants. If you show them that you are someone they might want to be friends with, being gay will not be that big of a deal. If they can't deal with you being gay, you don't want them as friends anyway.
