Many engines do not have the cylinder numbers cast on the block or the head. The only way to tell is to buy the maintenance manual for the car, and to look up the 'engine' section. Under 'Timing' it will tell you the firing order, the layout of the cylinders, and how to install the timing belt/chain.
There is a pad, right in front of the drivers side cylinder head. On this pad, you will find a couple of letters, then a series of numbers. These numbers will tell you everything about your motor.

On the drivers side of the engine in back of the cylinder head there are casting numbers and next to the casting numbers are raised letters either 5.7 or 5.0.

THE ONLY WAY TO TELL IF THE CYLINDER HEADS ARE BAD IS BY REMOVING AND INSPECTING THEM.(NO ONE IS THAT GOOD AS TO BE ABLE TO TELL WITH OUT LOOKING) THE NORMAL PROBLEMS THAT YOU GET THAT ARE CYLINDER HEAD RELATED ARE NOT ALWAYS DUE TO A BAD CYLINDER HEAD.
Post the numbers/letters on the smooth pad just below the front of the passengers side cylinder head and I'll tell you.

Locate and copy the engine numbers on the machined pad on the front of the engine just below the passengers side cylinder head. Re-post your findings and we will tell you what you have.
