They're the same thing. What I mean is that the bearing lies between the axle and the hub, and the wheel is bolted to the hub.

I don't know what this answer is this refers to axle bearings not motors...the best way to tell 2 bolt or 4 bolt main is to drop the pan as you know but for a less mechanically gifted individual or someone trying to avoid too much work try to find the casting number on the block and find a GM block search online and you should get it pretty easily.
