Papoose is the slang name for the 70p family of rifles. The original 70p is out of production. The newer 70pss is still available in the current 2013 Marlin catalog and continues to carry the papoose nickname. The 70pss uses a synthetic stock and stainless steel barrel but the mechanics and design of the rifle mirror the 70p and the rifle case is still branded with the papoose label. As for the original 70p with a wooden stock: The answer is No. The marlin model 70p was made from 1986-1995.
The Marlin model 70P (Papoose) was made from 1986-1994.With out a serial number it would not be possible to say the exact year of production.
I can say that the Marlin model 70P(papoose) was made from 1986-1994.If you have the model 70PSS(stainless steel barrel, and nickel plated parts)these have been made since 1995. The regular model 70 was introduced in 1983. At that time, .22 automatic rifles were required to have a serial number.
The marlin model 39A is the rifle model, while the Marlin model 39M is the carbine model.
By including the serial number in your question,we will be able to answer when your Marlin model 336 was produced.
By the serial number.
Hi if you contact Marlin with the number they will tell you a brief history. they are very good.
The original marlin model 55 shotgun was made from 1950-1965.This was before the gun control act of 1968 which mandated that all firearms have a serial number.
Send me the serial # so I can tell you which year it was manufactured.
The serial number will equate to a year.
It would help if you could tell me which "golden Marlin" model you have? Also condition, features, etc. Marlin made several guns with "Golden" on the barrel, but there should also be a model designation somewhere.
