I think since most were manufactured before the GCA of 1968 they did'nt have S/N so it's hard to say when they were made. After 1968 they are supposed to have a serial number On the left side of the barrel just forward of the receiver you will find two letters stamped into the steel. With that information we can decipher the date of manufacture. firstname.lastname@example.org
You can tell the age from the date stamp on the barrel. Check the manufactured date page on the Remington Society of America to look up the details.

The 514 was produced from 1948 until 1970. Approx 757,624 model 514's were produced How many with the Routledge bore is unknown, They were made for pest shooting (barn rats etc) and target shooting. Out of approaching a million rifles I'm sure at least quite a few were made, So your definition of rare is relevant here. Its not like you can go get one at Wally world, but if you wanted one it could be found. I'm no expert on the model, but I would bet an exemplary specimen could be had for under $500.00 Hope this helps.
If the letters apear on the left side of the barrel above the reciver it will help you scipher the date of manufactor.
