You can tell the age from the date stamp on the barrel. Check the manufactured date page on the Remington Society of America to look up the details.
Look for the letters stamped in the barrel near the frame 9on the left side. Go to the Remington history site to see the month and year they pertain to. DXH
Just making a guess that your rifle may be a Remington, they are not dated by serial number, but by a 2 or 3 letter code stamped on the barrel. These are very small letters, on the left side of the barrel, about 1/2 inch from the frame.
They made them from 1948-1970 you can tell month and year by the barrel code which you can look up the details for on the Remington Society of America under Manufacture Date link.
The "P" designates peep rear sight & ramp front sight, not sure of the "G" designation.
